Understanding our feathered family
Welcome to Barkers Feathered Friends Sanctuary. Learn about the birds we welcome with open wings and why we focus specifically on feathered species. Our commitment is to provide exceptional care tailored to their unique needs.

Feathered friends we welcome
At Barkers Feathered Friends Sanctuary, our mission is to provide a safe haven and rehabilitation care for domesticated and non-migratory wild birds, including poultry and other feathered species in need. We gladly accept chickens, ducks, turkeys, peafowl, pigeons, parrots, doves, and other non-migratory wild birds needing sanctuary or rehabilitation. By focusing our efforts on birds, we can ensure that every feathered resident receives the specialized attention, safety, and enrichment they deserve.

Animals we cannot accommodate
While our hearts are open to all animals, our resources and facilities are specifically designed for birds only. We do not accept dogs, cats, livestock, or other mammals, as we are not equipped to provide them with proper long-term care or housing. We encourage you to contact local shelters or rescue organizations equipped to care for these animals.

Join our feathered family
After reading this page, we want people to feel inspired to take action that helps protect and care for birds. Understand which animals we can and cannot accept, and contact us before bringing a bird to ensure proper placement. Support our mission by donating, volunteering, or sponsoring a bird in need. Spread awareness about responsible bird care, wildlife rehabilitation, and the importance of sanctuaries like ours. Choose compassion — whether that means helping an injured bird, educating others, or making humane choices in their own community. Every kind action, no matter how small, helps us continue giving birds a safe place to heal, grow, and thrive.
